General Safety
Tips
-
Make sure your channel is not
in use before turning on your transmitter. Check the peg
board.
-
Start your model whilst holding the main blades
and hand carry your model to the flight line.
-
Never fly your model within
10 metres of the pit area, other pilots or over the car park
area.
Model
maintenance
With model helicopters, you are the pilot and
mechanic. Because of the nature of the helicopter, there is a great
deal of vibration and stress. Vibration can cause nuts and bolts to
come loose. Vibration and stress can cause cracks and other damage.
Before each flight and after any incident, you must do a pre-flight
check on the model. An incident is anything that could have caused
damage. Hitting the blades on the ground during a flight, might not
cause visible damage, but it can cause damage such as a minute
cracks near the blade holders, bent spindle and main shafts. If not checked in time, this could
cause the blades to separate from the holders thus becoming a very
dangerous projectile. With the blades rotating at 1850 RPM, they have the
potency of a bullet!
The number one rule is if in doubt, change the part. |
